Cultural and Chronological Implications of the early MB pottery from Tel Dan

In this paper I will outline the principle ceramic forms in Tel Dan Strata XII and XI (MBI-II levels). Following this I will deal with the following questions:

Which forms are indicative of more narrow chronological ranges and which are not?
In what place or cultural milieu do selected forms originate?
How do "ceramic ideas" move and change through space and time?
How is the Tel Dan assemblage related to the material cultures of the southern Levant on the one hand and the northern Levant on the other?

Special emphasis will be placed on cooking utensils, decorated wares, storejars and juglets. The typology if some types will be examined within the wider framework of regional variation in the southern Levant.
