Some ornamental scenes on the wall paintings from Tell el Dabca: iconography and context
Katherina Aslanidou

The ornamental scenes from the Area H/III in Tell el Dabca are associated with fragments of Minoan wall paintings, which were unearthed in situ. The aim of this paper is to present the reconstruction of scenes such as the frieze of incurving C-spirals, the zone of ivy leaves and the foliate band. Furthermore a systematic comparison to parallel motifs, which originate from the repertory of the Minoan pottery, seals and wall paintings, may propose a chronological classification according to the iconography and the stylistic tendencies of the Minoan art.
