The impact on correlations to the Levant of the most recent stratigraphic evidence from the mainland
Elizabeth French

The stratigraphic evidence for 12th Ct occupation at Mycenae in the single area of the citadel not excavated before 1900 (studied in detail since 1995) has demonstrated that much of what was previously assumed is incorrect. As forecast in my Jerusalem paper of 1995 this evidence shows that there is a long period of stylistic development before the prevalence of the features by which the LH IIIC period has been identified and that we must revise what was stated in two fundamental publications: Mountjoy's "Mycenaean Decorated Chronology" published 1989. Importantly deductions from the Mycenae stratification are supported by recently excavated strata at Tiryns and at Midea.
