Perla Fuscaldo

The ceramic material from the Tell el-Dabca/Avaris palace complex at cEzbet Helmi (Areas H/III and H/VI) presented in this paper belongs to the first two strata of the 18th Dynasty: e/1 and d. The first one, stratum e/1, corresponds to the earliest phase of the New Kingdom, the Phase D/1 in the absolute chronology of the site, an archaeological horizon characterised by the construction of large storage buildings with round silos, offering pits and soldier tombs. The second stratum, d (= Phase C/3), is the first phase of construction of the main palace (G). The main characteristics of the Egyptian and imported pottery from these two strata will be analyzed in this paper.
