The Independence of Egyptian Lunar Chronology from Sothic Chronology
Rolf Krauss

Since the 1980's a number of scholars have discredited Sothic chronology for various reasons. Instead of defending Sothic chronology, I shall present a pre-Saite chronology for Egypt without any reference to Sothis, relying instead upon combination of dead reckoning with lunar dates. The result differs from conventional dead reckoning chronology in detail, but yields, regardless, the well known cornerstones 1279 and 1479 for the first regnal years of Ramesses II and Tuthmosis III, respectively.
