An imported pottery shape at Tell el-Dabca/ cEzbet Helmi: the Aegean Rhyton
A large amount of New Kingdom pottery was revealed during the excavations of the last 12 years, mainly from the site of 'Ezbet Helmi in the Eastern Nile Delta. Within the pottery corpus of the locally produced ceramics a hitherto unknown shape was discovered, which could be identified as imitation of Aegean Late Bronze Age Rhytons. The study of this pottery items and their find contexts offers an interesting perspective for cross linking the chronologies between Egypt and the Aegean. |
