The Scarabs from Building II in Ezbet Helmi (The "Depot")
Michaela Hüttner

Inside a building of the New Kingdom-settlement situated at the Ezbet Helmi site a great amount of scarabs was found. They are a part of the so called Depot that contained an ensemble of alabaster vessels, bronze needles and pottery together with the approximately sixty scarabs.

The room where the Depot is located can be dated to the mid-Eighteenth Dynasty by the means of the pottery and of course of the scarabs. Under the foundations of this building a scarab with the name of Tuthmosis I. was discovered.
Unfortunately the true use of the room or the Depot is not known yet.
