The Chronological Implication of Seal Impressions: Further Evidence for Cultic Activities in the Middle Kingdom in the Early Dynastic Royal Necropolis at Umm el-Qaab/Abydos
Vera Müller

It is opinio communis that offerings in Umm el-Qaab did not start before the New Kingdom. However, during the resumed investigations by the German Archaeological Institute evidence for earlier cultic activities was recently brought to light. Most important in this context are some seal impressions, deriving from the Middle Kingdom. O'Leahy's dating of the famous Osiris bed found in Djer's tomb is therefore no isolated matter anymore.
